It’s Christmas, Mom!

Each year our country seems to slip further and further away from the true meaning of Christmas.

This year has been different for our family, we decided to take a step back and focus on what’s really important during Christmas=Family, love, the birth of Christ, and being present.

We took the kiddos to see lights=a first for us which will be the beginning of many more “Going to look at Christmas Lights” tradition in the Chattin household. Here are just a few below:

The kids had a blast and they were able to bring their cell phones, they were only allowed to use them to take pictures:) They took many pictures and were able to show everyone, not to mention, the excitement of showing the pictures to everyone.

The kiddos are also out of school for two weeks 😳 They are enjoying their time off, Im sure.

Chris and so decided to take the kiddos to visit the festival of trees and our family had a blast..we went with friends, which made it even more fun!

This Christmas as far as presents go, we decided to keep it light. “Santa” is bringing the kiddos rainboots, dolls, socks, play dough and a few Christmas cookie cutters, with a few cooking materials. We decided to keep it lights since we are really just sick of toys! Having multiple kids means an over abundance of unnecessary and unwanted toys, that end up getting donated or sent to other home eventually. We also did get the kids cell phones and so far they’ve been using them for games, taking pictures, and listening to Christmas music! This year just seems so much more festive with the kids growing up.

We also celebrated our baby boys birthday, as he turned four!

Visiting friends along the Christmas season is fun, too!

We still have a lot to do before the weekend comes, but rest assure that on Christmas morning we will be reading the story of the birth of our Lord and Savior from the Bible to our kiddos. It’s a tradition Chris’s grandmother started and we want to follow.

From our family to yours we hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday!

Cell Phones for Kids, no way!

Yes way! I know, I know…We did what?! Give our girls a cell phone…”They’re how old?!” Oh yeah, they’re six and soon to be eight.

For our girls, we have been pretty impressed so far with how mature they have been.

We handed the oldest child her cell phone first (iPhone 5s), set guidelines, rules, and discipline.

Our soon to be eight year old:

When we gave the phone to Kaylee, we were shocked at how responsible she was with the phone. She was way more excited about the headphones that came with the phone more than she was with the access to calling, texting, or face timing with someone. She has probably sent a whole hand amount of texts since getting the phone last week!! She is more interested in listening to her own music-which is cool because I remember having a Walkman when I was 7/8 and listening to my own music.

We also gave her access to Snapchat and let her know her boundaries as far as not taking pictures of anyone who is “nakie”because we didn’t want anyone else to see that. So far she has taken pictures of her dog, Rudolph, and her dad.

Our six year old:

We decided to give our six year old her phone about two days later. She also has been given boundaries, rules, and discipline for her cell phone use.

Chelsea also uses her phone as a “Walkman” and loves listening to music.

About Snapchat: our six year old is HILARIOUS with Snapchat, however, very mature!

Below is a selfie Chelsea took on Snapchat..

Below is a picture Chelsea snapped of her older sister reading to her brother.

We are very pleased with how the girls are doing with their phones! They still get limits and time away from their phones as pictured belowπŸ™‚ We will keep you posted.

Christmas is the most Wonderful Time of the Year

It has been a very busy Christmas season so far and as we continue to enjoy the Christmas season, we are enjoying the simple times, life and love all around us.

In Roanoke, Virginia, they have the annual Christmas tree celebration and we kicked off the start of Christmas by visiting the trees with friends. This is an event we always make our kids wear their pajamas! It just makes the setting so much for comfortable and easy to put the kiddos straight to bed when we get home. 🏑

It has also been a couple of weeks of sickness and ER visits. With the turn of the winter weather coming, our home usually stays sick this time of the year. Luckily, we are all finally on the mends and doing much better!

This little baby boy will be four soon!!! Hard to believe it was just yesterday he was born. What a glorious time for a baby to be born around the Birthday of our Lord and Savior.

These three are Virginia ready for the best season of all time…Winterβ„οΈβ˜ƒοΈπŸŒ¨

What are you looking forward to this Christmas season?πŸŽ„β„οΈβ˜ƒοΈ
